Make a Plan, Take Action

Most "overnight successes" took ten years and three failed businesses to build.

On a recent trip to Washington D.C., I had the chance to catch up with Max Edson, share some laughs, play golf, and talk shop.

One aspect kept coming back up: the people who succeed are the ones who actually put themselves out there and take action.

Easier said than done.

Takeaways:
1. You will fall. The question is not whether it happens. It is how fast you get back up and how much effort you bring the next day.
2. Do not be afraid to pivot or partner. Stubbornly holding a direction that is not working or failing to grasp your weaknesses is not grit. It is ego.
3. Bias toward action, but thoughtfully. Movement beats planning. Reckless movement does not.

What you realize listening to entrepreneurs tell their stories is how rarely the path was straight. It is pivots, restarts, and a few businesses that did not work before one finally did.
