Networking for Introverted Entrepreneurs
I am an outgoing introvert.
Large events drain me. Small talk exhausts me.
But networking is essential. Even for introverts.
Why Networking Matters
People do business with people they know, like, and trust.
In service-oriented businesses, you build that through relationships. Not LinkedIn DMs. Not cold emails.
Actual human connection.
What Good Networking Looks Like
Not transactional - "Who can I learn from and share ideas with?" not "How do I get them to buy my services?"
Quality over quantity - 10 genuine relationships beat 100 LinkedIn connections
Show up consistently - One coffee chat meeting does not build trust. Showing up monthly does.
Add value first - Make introductions. Share what you are learning. Brainstorm partnership opportunities.
How Introverts Can Network
Choose smaller events - Local chapters over massive conferences.
Set a goal - "Have three meaningful conversations about technology implementation"
Follow up one-on-one - "Want to grab coffee and compare notes on how you are using Jump AI?"
Leverage LinkedIn - Continue these relationships at your own pace. Connect, comment on their material, and share relevant posts with them.
Give yourself permission to recharge - After long conferences or networking days, schedule nothing else that day.
My Networking Commitment
This year: network, network, network.
Not just with financial advisors evaluating their technology stack. With smart people in the veteran business community.
Learn from them. What worked? What flopped? What mistakes can I avoid?
Your Action Step
Commit to one networking event or community this month.
Show up. Have three meaningful conversations. Follow up with coffee.
Networking is not comfortable. But it is essential.
