The Ever Evolving Tech Stack

We have all heard the news that rocked the advisor landscape. Vanguard acquiring Altruist. With Altruist's momentum, it was expected that the company would be the acquirer, not the acquired. Although the deal outlines that Altruist is expected to operate as a standalone business, the move signals just how quickly the ground beneath the advisor stack is shifting.

But the more interesting story is not the consolidation at the top. It is what is happening at the other end of the market, where a new class of founders is building the tools that will help define the next decade of advisor technology. These are the people betting their careers that the advisor stack can be fundamentally better.

This month, we hand them the microphone.

Spotlight: Q&A With Four Newcomers

We reached out to four companies building new approaches to the advisor stack and asked each the same four questions. The goal is not to crown a winner. It is to help you understand the range of thinking shaping the tools you will evaluate over the next few years.

Meet the Four:

FinDash — Adam Jonah, Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer From Clutter to Clarity: A collaborative financial planning platform connecting CRM, planning, meeting history, and workflows in one system, with AI that uses client context to prepare reviews and draft reports. → findash.ai

Slant — Noah Hankin, Director of Financial Planning An AI-native CRM and operations hub for fast-growing advisors, built to turn the CRM from a system of record into a system of action through conversational AI over the full client record. → slant.app

Wavvest — Sinon Bennett, Chief Investment Officer A vertically integrated, AI-native RIA and wealth technology platform combining advice, planning, investments, and ancillary services in one modern system. → wavvest.com

OmegaFP — Kevin Dunford, Founder An all-in-one practice management platform purpose-built for fee-only advisors, connecting CRM, scheduling, planning, client communication, and an AI virtual assistant around a single client record. → omegafp.com

Q1: What did you see advisors struggling with that made you decide to build a new solution?

FinDash: Advisors were spending too much time piecing together the client's story across their CRM, financial planning software, meeting notes, and inbox—and then manually moving work between them. We built FinDash to connect that information with the work that follows, so advisors can spend more time helping clients and less time keeping their software up to date.

Slant: It was never the admin work for me. It was that client data lives in eight different places, so a question like "should I do a Roth conversion this year, and how much" means opening the planning tool, the tax tool, the notetaker, email, and more before you can say anything useful. I did not want eight tabs open to run a meeting, and eventually the question became what if one much better tool held all of it.

Wavvest: We've seen most advisors struggle with the swivel chair problem of disconnected point solutions not talking well to one another. We also see a lot of RIAs with aging client bases and no clear path toward efficiently engaging and serving the next generation of clients.

OmegaFP: Advisors spend too much time stitching together separate tools for CRM, meeting notes, tasks, client communication, and planning workflows. Those tools rarely share context, so advisors duplicate work and important follow-ups get lost. I built OmegaFP to give firms one connected operating system designed around how advisors actually work. And I didn't just see it, I've lived it for 10 years!

Q2: What can an advisor do with your product that they cannot do with other tools?

FinDash: Our differentiation is connecting CRM, financial planning, meeting history, and workflows in one platform, with AI that can use client context to help prepare reviews and draft branded reports. Advisors can also bring their own interactive calculators and decision tools into FinDash and publish them to individual client dashboards. That lets a firm deliver its own planning approach alongside the client's financial information, instead of being limited to a vendor's standard reports and calculators.

Slant: I found a Roth IRA holding four individual stocks, which our Roth model never does. Normally I would ask my boss, then dig through his inbox and notes to find what was agreed to, but I asked Client Chat instead, and it pulled up an email between him and the client that I was never copied on, where she asked us to leave those positions alone. Thirty minutes saved, nobody had to be available, and the proof was already documented.

Wavvest: Create truly custom financial plans. Everyone talks about bespoke planning, but when every client gets essentially the same 80-page plan centered around a Monte Carlo analysis and cash flow simulation, it does not always resonate or fit the client's actual needs. Financial advice should not be one size fits all, and neither should the client deliverable.

OmegaFP: An advisor can manage the entire client relationship in one system, including CRM, financial planning, meeting capture, client texting, document exchange, scheduling, fee proposals, billing, workflows, and video messaging. Other products may handle individual pieces, but OmegaFP connects them through the same client record and AI context, eliminating separate subscriptions, disconnected data, and manual handoffs. This is just the beginning!

Q3: What is coming next on your platform that will change how an advisor's day actually looks?

FinDash: We're developing tools that let advisors screen households against scenarios such as a market decline or interest-rate change, understand why particular clients warrant attention, and create follow-up tasks after reviewing the results. That would help advisors move from "Who should we be talking to?" to a prioritized review list with supporting evidence. I'm excited about shortening the distance between identifying a client need and assigning someone to address it.

Slant: We keep asking which big, clunky, expensive tools advisors pay a lot for and do not enjoy opening, and how that experience should feel in Slant instead. I am not naming categories yet, but most advisors can guess a few. Every one of those is a tab that stops existing, and that time goes back to wherever you want.

Wavvest: A truly end-to-end workflow in one place, from the initial prospect conversation and plan creation through KYC, onboarding, account opening, funding, and rebalancing. Most of those pieces are already in place today, and we are continuing to strengthen the connections between them so advisors can spend less time moving between systems and more time working with clients.

OmegaFP: We are working on multi-custodial data connectivity so advisors can see household balances, holdings, and AUM alongside their CRM and planning workflows. I am excited because this will allow OmegaFP to identify meaningful account changes and help turn that information into timely advisor actions.

Q4: What is your hot take about the future of advisor technology?

FinDash: I think advisors will move from operating separate CRM and planning tools toward working through AI agents connected to a shared, persistent system of record for client relationships, planning, and collaboration. The AI assistants may change, but the client's history, decisions, and work in progress should stay connected. That means less re-entering information and coordinating systems for advisors, and a more continuous experience for clients between meetings.

Slant: Bad advisors are about to look good because the tools will hand almost anyone a solid recommendation. The differentiator stops being the advice and becomes whether you can engage a client well enough to get hired and get it implemented. The loudest, fastest growing firms today are not giving better advice; they just systematized their process and made clients feel like they get more than they pay for.

Wavvest: I think a lot of advisors will experiment with building their own tools in Lovable, Claude Code, and similar platforms, only to realize how much time and ongoing maintenance software actually requires. After spending countless hours and potentially more money than the subscription they were trying to replace, many of them will end up going back to the tool they tried to eliminate in the first place.

OmegaFP: My hot take is that advisor technology stacks will shrink rather than keep growing. The winning platforms will understand the entire client relationship, connect data with workflows, have AI woven through every aspect, and complete routine work with advisor oversight instead of merely generating more content.

The Takeaway

Four new comers, four different bets…but notice how much they agree on the core problem: client data trapped in too many disconnected systems, and advisors paying the tax in time and inaction. Where they differ is the answer. FinDash is building the connected operating system. Slant and OmegaFP are reimagining the CRM as the living source of truth. Wavvest is rethinking the model and deliverable itself.

That disagreement is a gift to you as a buyer. It means you do not have to accept one vendor's definition of the problem and the associated solution. The right question is not "which of these is best?" It is "which of these is built around the way my firm actually serves clients?" and that answer starts with knowing your ideal client, your service model, your workflows, and your work preferences before you ever open a demo.

Question of the Month

If you could hand one part of your firm entirely to an AI-native tool tomorrow (and trust it) which part would it be, and what is holding you back from doing it today?
