Pull up fifty advisor websites and you will read the same three sentences fifty times. Comprehensive wealth management. Customized strategies. Fee-only fiduciary.
All true. All completely interchangeable.
When nothing distinguishes you, the only remaining variable is price. That is the actual cost of sounding like everyone else.
Two things worth sitting with:
1. In a service business, clients are buying you. Not the plan. Not the portfolio. You. Which means not being authentic is not just uncomfortable, it is bad business. People can tell.
2. Clarity makes every other decision easier. Once you know who you are and who you serve, your service model, your marketing, and your hiring all have a filter to run through.
So try finishing this sentence in 7-10 words:
"I am the advisor for _______________."
If it takes you more than ten words, or if it could describe a hundred other firms, that is worth some time this week.
