Good Ideas Die Without Process

Most advisors do not have an idea problem. Sit down with almost any advisor for an hour and you will hear five things worth building.

The problem is that most ideas, processes, and relationships live in the advisor's head. And anything that only exists in your head cannot scale, cannot be delegated, and cannot be improved.

Where to start:

1. Write down what you already do. Not the ideal version. The actual version. You cannot improve a process you have never documented. Aim for 90% on paper, 10% in your head.

2. Automate the boring middle. The repeatable steps with little to no thought or effort.

3. If you have a team, hand it over and watch. If you are solo, find ways to automate or streamline. The gaps in your documentation show up the moment someone else tries to follow it.

The goal is to build a practice that runs on systems instead of memory.
